Start date: September/October 2019
We are currently looking to recruit an analyst to join our growing team in Milan, Italy. Your main responsibility will be to create, maintain, adapt and review financial models to assess the economics of investment opportunities. You will also play a key part in all aspects of the M&A lifecycle, including market assessment, acquisition, development, management and disposal and you will have the opportunity to actively contribute to the deal flow and help shape our development strategy.
Your main duties will be to:
assist in the initial screening of potential investment opportunities
identify inputs required to produce a financial model, research this information independently and engage with external advisors to gather all the information required
develop and maintain financial models to determine returns of investment opportunities and quantify effects of potential risks (cash flows, equity multiples, cash yields, IRR's, sensitivities etc.)
keep financial models up-to-date with changes in the tax and accounting rules and any other relevant changes
identify and assess opportunities to enhance returns (tax efficient structures and capital structures, re-financing, contracts renegotiation, etc.)
prepare internal and external documents and presentations and generally assist with the internal approvals process
undertake relevant industry & market research and peer/competitor analyses to facilitate market-related decisions
The position will be based in Milan with occasional travel required.
You will have an overall understanding of the renewable energy (or the broader infrastructure) industry, with limited experience in a professional environment. A pro-active problem solver, you will have excellent people, presentation and communication skills to be able to work independently, interacting with specialist advisors and seeking external support as needed. Keen to learn, you will be highly motivated and have strong attention to detail. Specifically, you will have:
a top academic qualification in a numerate degree (finance & economics, engineering, etc.);
1 to 2 years' work experience in the infrastructure space;
strong analytical, financial modelling and valuation skills;
an understanding of project financing;
outstanding working knowledge of Excel;
the ability to read and interpret financial statements and extract relevant data to feed into financial model;
the ability to manage large volumes of information and distil the salient facts and key risks into a summary format; and
ability to deliver punctual reports.
You will also be fluent English and Italian (essential) and you may have knowledge of other European languages (beneficial). International experience (studies, stage, etc.) will be a distinctive advantage.
