Major domo assistant house manager

Overview Seeking a highly motivated Major Domo Assistant House Manager for a privately owned estate in Tuscany. The role ensures extremely high service standards and smooth operation of the household, creating a world‑class private home experience for owners, guests and staff.

Responsibilities

• Support the Property Manager and lead the estate team with a hands‑on approach.
• Supervise household staff across all estate locations, handling recruitment, training, payroll, performance reviews and scheduling.
• Manage estate operations, including staff, family, guests, contractors, budgets and payments.
• Oversee external contractors, service providers and suppliers.
• Develop and maintain service procedures, policies and household manuals.
• Handle financial management, budget administration and purchasing for the estate and household.
• Plan and schedule routine maintenance, repairs and household projects.
• Oversee security and communication systems.
• Coordinate guest itineraries, transport, restaurant bookings and activity planning.
• Ensure world‑class service of meals and refreshments.
• Maintain regulatory compliance for insurance, health and safety.
• Maintain vehicles, wine cellar, household supplies, furnishings and tableware.
• Oversee vineyard and olive production.
• Collaborate with a Project Manager on staff housing and other projects.
• Develop and maintain the estate’s online presence, communications and marketing.

Requirements

• Exceptional organisational, time‑management and budget‑management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication in Italian and English.
• Proven experience as a Major Domo, senior butler, house manager or similar role in a comparable environment.
• Demonstrated leadership, team‑motivation and staff‑supervision abilities.
• Hands‑on attitude with basic knowledge of household systems (plumbing, security).
• Experience in financial management, budgeting and reporting.
• High computer literacy with budgeting, reporting and internal booking software.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, trust and discretion.

Salary and Benefits

• Gross annual salary: €75,000 - €85,000.
• Accommodation and meals provided on site.
• Utility bills covered.
